NOTD - Boots 17 Holographic

Happy Saturday peeps! Had a super busy week of shopping, poorly daughter, her Halloween disco at school and general out and aboutness!

Day of rest today (and washing :( ) so what better to do than blog?!

So we all know holo polishes are big news, I have the original Gosh Holo   but am amassing a collection of indies now and they piddle all over it!

So how does a high street holo compare?

Erm, well it doesn't! I mean it really really just doesn't!

Excuse the little finger, didn't like this enough to start over!

This is a linear holo, and even in the sunlight it was hard to really tell that it was a holo :(

My camera struggled with this, although there wasn't really much to pick up!

Inside, and even now sitting in front of my window this looks just like a plain old silver/white polish on my nails!

If this is your first holo purchase then maybe you will love it and the plus side is that it is a million easier to apply than the Gosh one but still a good idea to use a sticky base, a coat of this, a topcoat and a final layer of this so as not to dull the holo

This is available from Boots stores for £3.99 but in all honesty pay the extra £1 and get the recently re-released Gosh version from Superdrug stores!

I will be doing some more holo posts soon as I have just got some from Models Own that look gorgeous!

Are you a holo fan?

NOTD A-England Tristam

Hello everyone! Lazy sunday here today, what better day to do a blog post!

Today's nail post has been waiting in my to do file for so long but is a much loved polish of mine so time to give it some love now!

This is a more blue version of my beautiful Lady Of The Lake and is an ultimate dark tone for Autumn/Winter

Inside it is a beautiful deep blue with what looks like silver shimmer running through it

But in direct sunlight you can see it is in fact teeny tiny scattered holo!

These are some of the easiest polishes to apply, 2 coats to full opacity and finishes to a high gloss though I do always use a topcoat. Wear was also amazing, 5+ days with no chipping!

I love A-England polishes and am currently after the Gothic collection but since my complete polish splurge this month I am holding back......

For now!

A-England polishes are available direct here or here  for customers in the US!

Well worth giving a go if you haven't yet!

NOTD - Black Mamba Samba

My last post showcased my first indie polish over a black base but thanks to the lovely black glitter I spotted I thought I would also use it over a white base!

The base of the polish is a sheer black so it changed the white to grey

You can see the beautiful smattering of matte black glitter here, never had a polish with matte glitter and can see why Jen from http://www.thepolishaholic.com/ loves it! Its unique and allows the holo particles to take centre stage!

I struggled to photograph the holo particles as the sun was sooo in and out (this is the UK afterall!)

Ooh blurry really brings out the multi colouredness!

As you didn't see on this polish over black, this contains large matte black hex glitter, this did taco on two nails, but not enough to bother me and two coats of topcoat stopped it being annoying to touch!

I am really excited by this polish and hope to get my hands on some other Cool Waves polishes as indie brands are notoriously hard to get hold of! I was so in love with this polish that I promptly went on http://shop.llarowe.com/main.sc and placed a large order of polish that is so hard to get here!

Have you tried indie/franken polishes yet?

NOTD - My first Indie polish!

The lovely Kate from Never Naked Nails sent me this little gem to try when I offered to review the Cutie-cle oil and nearly wet myself as so many indie polishes are sold out so quickly and usually being US based I am in bed when they are released!

This is Black Mamba Samba from the Lush Lizard collection soon to be released by Cool Waves Laquer and is a riot of glitter, holo, hexes, and prettiness! I did try this on its own but I prefer it as a layering polish as I hate visible nail line!

This is it over OPI Suzi Skis The Pyrenees and shot in sunlight and also slightly blurry to really show the small holo particles

This also contained small flecks of matte black glitter which you can just see on my ring finger

Needless to say I couldn't stop staring at this and wore it until my tips wore away!

Even non blurry shots of this are so pretty, it reminded me of a night sky!

Ah, so dreamy!

Best shot I could get of this inside!

This also featured large matte black hex glitters but over black you cannot see these! Next post over white will show them off!

These polishes are not yet available but keep an eye on Never Naked Nails Facebook page to keep updated!

I am also waiting for something really special to show you guys that I have purchased from Kate recently and am awaiting delivery for!

Cutie-cle Oil by Cool Waves Lacquer

Hello everyone, things are a bit calmer this week as my mum is away so not out shopping or collecting children from school!

I was sent this for review by Cool Waves Lacquer . I have tried soooo many different cuticle creams, oils etc and have yet to find any that I like. Lush Lemoney Flutter is favourite among fellow bloggers but I hate the feel and smell and some like OPI Avoplex just feel odd and dry if that is possible!

I love the name of this Cutie-cle oil!

As you can see it is made with all natural ingredients and lots of lovely oils

Its a cute little size and perfect for taking out and about, although I keep mine on my bedside table to use last thing at night

It has a fab little rollerball applicator, I prefer this to oils in a polish type bottle as they can be very messy if knocked over, and they tend to dump too much product on my nails.

This is also quite unique in the fact it has no smell! Some oils and creams can be too strong (lemony flutter being so strong it makes me cough!) so its good if you are sensitive to added scent in products or simply prefer not to have a scent on your hands for ages!

After just 3 days use the skin around the tips of my nails is softer! I have high hops that they will get better as when they are harder I pick at them when stressed, naughty!

For more information on the products from Cool Waves visit their Facebook page here http://www.facebook.com/Cool.Waves.Lacquer, oh and like it too as some of the nail swatches are lovely to look at!

*This product was sent for my review but views are my own and honest.

Revlon Lip Butter Raspberry Pie

Just a quick post from me today, normal service shall resume once my life here has calmed down a little!
I am a little late on the lip butter bandwagon, having gone for the Rouge Caresse by L'oreal! But I won this little gem and am totally in love!

scuse the unmade, hormonal skin!

I was surprised at how saturated the colour was!

I adore this colour, it is perfect for me, cool toned pink and so glossy without any stickiness and the best thing for me? No taste! I love the Rouge Caresse but detest the taste so shall be stocking up on these!

I am also dying to try the crayon lippie too, since I cannot justify a Clinique Chubby Stick splurge this side of Christmas!

Revlon products are available in most high street retailers

NOTD Leighton Denny Maroon Me Knot and OPI Serving Up Sparkle

One of my favourite polishes is this beauty from Leighton Denny but I do feel like it needs jazzing up like I did in this post but this time I went for more sparkles! I am such a magpie and after getting the gorgeous Serving Up Sparkle in a bargain set from TK Maxx I knew I had to try this!

Serving Up Sparkle is officially my new favourite top coat! It is tiny holo glitter in a clear base with larger holo hex glitter too!

The polish was buildable, this was 2 coats and the brush needed dipping in straight down to get hold of the larger bits of glitter!

But the effect is totally worth it, I kept this mani for a week and everytime I went in the sun I couldn't stop moving my nails about to catch the holo yumminess!

Wear was amazing, and I only took it off when I started getting growth at the cuticles but I had no chips and even tip wear was minimal, since I spend a lot of time on the lap top this is usually my biggest gripe with my polish!

Look at the colours, amazing or what?!

Serving Up Sparkle was part of the Serena Williams collection and hard to get now, I found mine in TK Maxx but you can get it here http://www.amazon.co.uk/OPI-Serena-Glam-Slam-Polish/dp/B0056K93MU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346775843&sr=8-1
